Sun Life appoints a chief executive for Singapore where it recently acquired a license and launched a branch to target the life insurance needs of high net worth individuals.

Sun Life named Belinda Au as its new Singapore CEO, according to a statement, reporting to Fabien Jeudy, president of Sun Life International for Hong Kong, Bermuda and Singapore.

Au joined Sun Life over eight years ago and was most recently its general manager of distribution and marketing for Hong Kong. Prior to joining Sun Life, she was with AIA last as its regional chief agency officer.

Asia Expansion

Sun Life’s newly launched Singapore office is part of a broader Asia strategy to focus on capturing opportunities in the international high net worth life insurance market. «This represents a significant milestone in Sun Life's history,» said Sun Life’s Asia president Léo Grépin. «For 128 years, we have been helping clients in Asia to grow, secure and transfer their wealth.»

Just in the last four years, Sun Life’s net income in Asia reached 15 percent CAGR and resulted in 11.5 million new clients. This led to a total of 23 million client in Asia and the latest office debut will expand its regional presence to eight markets: China, the Philippines, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam.
