Japan’s Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation has announced the appointment of a new head of macro strategy in Asia.
Jeff Ng joins SMBC as head of Asia macro strategy for its global markets and treasury businesses, according to a statement. He is based in Singapore and will work closely with Asia economist Ryota Abe and the global economist team.
In the role, Ng is responsible for formulating and disseminating views on Asian macro, currency and rates markets with a focus on Australia, India and the ASEAN region. He is also responsible for recommending trade ideas and delivering SMBC’s Asia macro strategy to clients globally.
Ng has over 14 years of experience, including coverage of global markets with a focus on Asia, China and Singapore. He previously held various roles at Deutsche Bank and Standard Chartered.
