British insurer Prudential has announced the appointment of a new group chief agency officer.

Prudential has appointed Pankaj Banerjee  as group chief agency officer, according to a statement, effective September 30. Based in Hong Kong, he will report to Lilian Ng, managing director, strategic business group.  In the role, Banerjee will be responsible for accelerating the insurer’s technology-powered distribution strategy with a focus on agency, while working seamlessly with teams across 24 markets in Asia and Africa. 

With 24 years of insurance management experience, Banerjee rejoins Prudential after previously holding senior roles at the firm in India, Vietnam and Cambodia. He also held prior stints with Manulife and AIA.

New Strategy

Under CEO Anil Wadhwani, Prudential announced a new strategy in August 2023 to increase new business profit from the agency channel by 2.5 to 3 times by 2027, compared to the 2022 level.
