Mossack Fonseca, the law firm at the heart of the «Panama Papers» scandal, was raided , according to media reports. The scandal has ties to Switzerland.
The Panama Papers refers to the leak of millions of documents taken from the Panamanian law firm last year. The files show how the methods used by world's wealthy to evade taxes via offshore corporations.
The raid on Mossack Fonseca, the second since the scandal broke, is linked to bribery at Odebrecht, a Brazilian engineering firm, «Reuters» reported.
Firm's Denial
Founder Ramon Fonseca Mora denied the firm had any connection to Odebrecht, which has admitted to bribery, or other firms being probed in «Lava Jato,» Brazil's investigation into corruption.
In December, Switzerland's prosecutor found Odebrecht and another firm guilty of not stopping bribery and money-laundering. The two were ordered to pay Switzerland 117 million Swiss francs. The Bern-based prosecutor continues to investigate Odebrecht and Petrobras, to which it is linked, together with Brazilian officials.
The Petrobras scandal has left a mark on Swiss banks: Swiss regulator Finma said it is investigating an undisclosed number over whether they laundered alleged Petrobras graft money.
