António Horta-Osório is fined for breaching COVID rules while chairman of Switzerland's second-biggest bank.
Cantonal authorities in St Gallen have fined ex-credit Suisse chairman António Horta-Osório 2,000 Swiss francs ($2,200) for breaching COVID rules, Swiss newspaper «Blick» (behind paywall, in German) reports Wednesday.
According to the report, viewed by the newspaper, the bank's ex-chair broke isolation rules on December 1, by heading to the airport to board his private jet for a trip to London.
The Portuguese-British banker did so in spite of authorities having rejected two of his previous requests to be exempted from the restrictions.

Following an internal review carried out last month into the ex-chair's transgressions, as finews.com reported at the time, Horta-Osório stepped down before he was dismissed from the bank.
Swiss ex-UBS banker Axel Lehmann immediately took over his role.
In view of the 3.8 million francs Horta-Osório is set to receive for his nine months at the bank, the amount seems trivial.
