Swiss insurance giant Zurich appointed a new chief underwriting officer in Singapore.

The appointment of Anish Jadav as chief underwriting officer (CUO) is part of Zurich’s plans to grow its Commercial Insurance business in Singapore, and its role as a hub for underwriting risks for clients from across Asia Pacific (APAC).

Jadav joins Zurich’s Singapore branch from the company’s Commercial Insurance business in the United Kingdom where he worked in multiple roles, including deputy CUO, and head of the Facilities portfolio. He is also a Fellow of the U.K.’s Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, the firm said in a statement.

Increased Asian Activity

In the new role he will work closely with the Asia Pacific Regional Commercial Insurance team led by Chris Waterman, which also includes Penny Seach as head of Casualty, and Alex Morgan as head of Specialty.

Jadav will lead underwriting for the Commercial Insurance business in Singapore as well as manage the Speciality Lines of Accident & Health, Financial Lines, Marine and Surety.

The Swiss insurance giant has made a slew of appointments in its Asian based units this year. In July Sierra Signorelli was appointed as chief underwriter for commercial insurance policies. She previously led all speciality insurance in Asia for a major U.S. player.
