Standard Chartered snapped up an industry veteran as regional head of global banking for greater China and north Asia.

Andrew Au will take on responsibility for the global banking business across greater China and North Asia, effective from January 29. He will be based in Hong Kong and report to Paul Skelton, who is the overall head of global banking.

Au joins Standard Chartered from Citi, where he was based in Shanghai and ran the U.S. investment bank's China business. Previously, he was the bank's regional head of commercial banking for Asia-Pacific.

«Andrew will be leading one of our most important regions in the context of our corporate and institutional banking strategy,» Skelton said.
