Asset managers are increasing their focus on Indonesia. Aberdeen Standard Investments appointed a new country head for the fast-growing market.

Aberdeen Standard Investments has named Omar Anwar as country head and head of distribution for Indonesia, according a statement on Monday. He will also become president director of Aberdeen's asset management subsidiary in Indonesia.

Previously, Anwar was executive chairman at Nomura Securities Indonesia. Before that, he held senior management positions at Bank Mandiri, ABN Amro and Citibank.

Burgeoning Market

Global and regional wealth managers are moving to tap the burgeoning Indonesian wealth market. Geneva-based private bank, Lombard Odier recently inked a strategic agreement with Indonesia's Bank Mandiri, as finews.asia reported.

Last May, Singaporean bank OCBC launched onshore private banking in Indonesia, aiming for those with more than $1 million in assets.
