The Vaduz-based private bank has appointed a proven expert from its own ranks to take over from the departing wealth head.

VP Bank's head of intermediaries, Tobias Wehril, will add responsibilities as head of private banking and as a member of group executive management from July 1, the Vaduz-based private bank announced in a statement on Wednesday.

Wehril takes over the role from Christoph Mauchle, who is set leave the firm at the end of September 2020. Under his leadership, Mauchle, who joined the bank in 2013 from Credit Suisse, helped VP grow its Asian wealth management footprint, boosting staffing in Asia and clinching a wealth tie-up in Shanghai

In the meantime, Mauchle will introduce Wehril to his new responsibilities and ensure a seamless handover, the announcement said.

Long-Standing Experience

Wehril, who joined VP Bank in 2015, brings a wealth of experience in the asset management business and the intermediaries field. He was previously the head of desk for external asset managers at St. Galler Kantonalbank from 2009 to 2015, and was a partner at Financial Architects Switzerland from 2007 to 2009. He began his career in 1993 at UBS, before switching to Credit Suisse in 2001, with a stint at Swiss American Securities in New York from 2004 to 2005.
