The wealth management arm of the Royal Bank of Canada has appointed two senior bankers in Asia to support clients’ end to end wealth management needs and strengthen its market position.
Ada Chan, senior director, and Cheryl Ong, director, have joined RBC Wealth Management's team in Singapore in recent weeks, the firm announced on Monday.
The two senior bankers will work in relationship management roles, with a focus on servicing families in Asia including those who have ties globally, especially to Canada, the U.S. and the U.K., the announcement said. Chan reports to David Tan, executive director and team head, North Asia, while Ong reports to Rohit Bhalla, executive director and team head, Southeast Asia.

Chan (picture above) brings expertise in wealth planning, investment products and wider banking capabilities to support clients’ financial needs. She joins RBC after 13 years with UBS in Hong Kong, where she was a senior banker, working with clients and prospects from Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and Thailand. She previously spent four years with United Overseas Bank in Hong Kong.
Ong brings 25 years’ private banking experience from Standard Chartered, HL Private Bank and most recently CA Indosuez, where she provided trusted advice and wealth management solutions to high net worth individuals and families across Southeast Asia.
Growing Team
RBC has about 2,000 employees in Asia working across wealth management, global asset management, capital markets and investor and treasury services.
In the first half of this year, the bank added a number of private bankers to its relationship management teams in Asia, including Anika Tan from Westpac, Alan Ka from China Citic, and Dyanne Tan from HSBC Private Bank.
In May, RBC announced two senior wealth planning hires to cover the region: wealth planner Alvin Chiam, as part of its Singapore team, and associate director, business development Belle (Jing) Hu, based in Beijing.
