The newly created position aims to support the firm's marketing strategy and vision as well as client experience in Asia and Europe.
Investment firm Capital Group has appointed James Cardew in the newly created position of head of marketing and client experience for Asia and Europe, the investment firm announced in a statement on Monday.
Based in London, Cardew will oversee the client journey for institutional and financial intermediary clients, and will lead a team of digital, brand, content and product marketers across Asia and Europe. He reports to Guy Henriques, head of Asia and Europe client group, and Jaya Kumar, global chief marketing officer.
Cardew brings 25 years of marketing experience in the asset management industry including most recently as chief marketing officer of Schroders Personal Wealth. Prior to that, he was global head of marketing at Schroders for 12 years. He began his career at Mercury Asset Management and served as the head of international marketing at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.
Important Region
Capital Group regards Asia as a strategically important region. In June, it hired two new associates to its Asia team, based at its regional head office in Singapore, to bolster its distribution capabilities in the region. It also hired an associate director, for product marketing, Asia and Europe.
In September, Capital Group created a new role to oversee the strategy and expansion of its investment services in Asia and Europe, appointing Alexandra Haggard, former Blackrock global head of equity product and the EMEA head of strategic pricing.
The firm has been serving investors in Asia-Pacific for more than 30 years. It currently employs more than 330 associates in the region, with offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo. As of June 30, 2020, the firm had $1.9 trillion in assets under management.
