The Genevan wealth manager is appointing a new head of private banking for wealthy Asians. She is a veteran of both UBS and Credit Suisse.
Edmond de Rothschild is naming Sharon Xie as its head of Asia, effective immediately, it said in an emailed statement on Friday. Xie, who was most recently UBS' market leader in Zurich for Chinese clientele, replaces Jing Zhang Brogle, who is defecting to Quintet, a Luxembourg wealth upstart.
Xie will report to Claudia Giger, who runs Edmond de Rothschild in Zurich. Her job will be to deepen the privately-held Swiss bank's relationships among Asia's super-wealthy. At UBS, she managed a team looking after wealthy and ultra-rich Chinese and Hong Kong clients.
Taking Rothschild Private
At Rothschild, Xie will also lead a team of an undisclosed number of bankers. Before UBS, she worked for Credit Suisse in Hong Kong for four years, Bank of China International also in the territory, and for HSBC in Beijing.
A branch of the Rothschild family took the eponymous bank private earlier this year. The Rothschilds last year tapped UBP wealth veteran Michel Longhini to run the private banking arm.
