The Amsterdam-based firm has announced the opening of a Singapore office in 2021, its eighth globally.
The firm's Singapore office will focus on derivatives trading in commodities and equity products both on Singaporean exchanges and across other markets around the world, Optiver said in an announcement on Wednesday.
Managing director Zhivko Zhelev will lead operations in Singapore, where the liquidity provider hopes to strengthen access to Asia’s financial markets, attract local talent and operate in close proximity to regional business partners.
Important Region
The Singapore outpost is in line with the growing importance of Asian financial markets and the role that Singapore plays in this development, Optiver said in the announcement.
Optiver first established a presence in Asia-Pacific with the incorporation of Optiver Australia in 1996. Since then it has expanded its footprint with offices in Taipei (2005), Hong Kong (2007) and Shanghai (2012).
