For Lombard Odier the current global economic model is wasteful, idle, lopsided and dirty. Maxime Perrin from Lombard Odier Investment Managers told finews.tv what this means and how investors should invest sustainably.
«Decarbonization is at the core of addressing the challenges of today’s economy,» as countries aim to decarbonize the economy by 2050, Maxime Perrin, who heads sustainable investment at Lombard Odier Investment Managers, said. Decarbonization also brings many investment opportunities.
Companies that emit huge amounts of CO2 such as steel and cement makers, utilities, transport companies and energy firms are the ones that will be leading the transition to net-zero, Perrin said.
It is key that investors don’t just invest in sectors that don't have very high emissions such as healthcare tech, but that they invest in the transition itself and find companies that are leading decarbonization efforts, according to Perrin. As a decarbonized energy source, nuclear power also plays a role in the transition to net-zero, he said.
