A US parliamentary committee accuses Credit Suisse of failures in an internal investigation into historical accounts with alleged Nazi links.
Credit Suisse didn't review all available documents related to an investigation into Nazi-era accounts, according to an independent report released Thursday by the US Senate Budget Committee.
Numerous relevant documents were not considered in the multi-year review, which said that 64,000 sets of «potentially relevant records related to Nazi-linked accounts are not part of Credit Suisse’s ongoing investigation.»
Documents Allegedly Withheld
Credit Suisse is also accused of withholding key documents from the former ombudsman for the investigation. The Swiss bank also denied access to a historian hired to assist the investigation, it adds.
Neil Barofsky, the former ombudsman, and AlixPartners, the consulting firm hired by Credit Suisse to conduct the investigation, did not immediately respond to requests for comment, according to «Reuters».
Credit Suisse commissioned the investigation to look into the Simon Wiesenthal Center's allegations, and US senators are calling for more to be done to identify assets in certain Credit Suisse accounts after 1945.
