Current head Ted Niggli will continue to work in Shanghai in a newly created role that focuses on commercial innovation.
New York-based index provider MSCI has appointed Doug Walls to lead its Index Products team in Asia Pacific, the firm announced in a statement on Wednesday.
Walls (pictured left) brings more than 20 years of experience in the region, where he held senior roles in various global asset management companies. He joins from Hong Kong-based Fidelity International, where he was the firm's Asia Pacific head of product development and management. He previously worked for BlackRock for 5 years and Barclays Global Investors for almost 10 years, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Walls will be based in Hong Kong, where he reports to Diana Tidd, global head of Index. He will work closely with Jack Lin, head of APAC client coverage, and the Index and APAC leadership teams to deliver solutions for MSCI clients, the statement said.
Ted Niggli, who previously held the role, will become head of OneMSCI Commercial Programs, a newly created position, from September 23, 2019. He will continue to be based in Shanghai, reporting to Baer Pettit, president.
