The firm, which has been experiencing strong growth, continues with its high-profile hires by adding a senior executive as it restructures its research team.

Allianz Real Estate, the real estate investment and asset manager of Allianz Group, has appointed Megan Walters as global head of research, the firm announced in a statement.

Walters brings to the firm over two decades of experience in global real estate, most recently as Asia Pacific head of research at JLL, where she spent almost 10 years.

She will begin in her role on November 1, reporting to chief investment officer Olivier Teran. She will initially be based in Singapore before relocating to Europe.

Busy Year

The past year has been a busy one for Allianz RE. It launched its European Debt fund and announced the first equity deal in which it acquired and manages an asset on behalf of a joint venture including a third-party institutional investor.

In Asia Pacific, the firm has made key appointments to its team, including Chiang Wei Ng, head of asset management, and Charles Kwak, head of transaction services.

The firm also opened new offices in London, Stockholm and Luxembourg.

Growing Asset Book

Allianz Real Estate had properties worth €67.1 billion in its global portfolio as of end June 2019, of which €9.8 billion are residential assets, according to the company. In the past month, the firm announced acquisitions in Japan and China.

«The breadth of strategies that we are now overseeing, alongside our move to managing real estate for third parties, requires us to structure our research team as a global department and I am pleased to welcome Megan Walters as head of the global team,» Teran said about the appointment.
