US asset manager Franklin Templeton has hired a former Citi managing director to support its sales efforts in the region.

Robert Crossley joins Franklin Templeton as vice president, industry advisory services, EMEA and APAC, according to a statement.

In his new role, Crossley will partner closely with the firm's distribution leadership teams in EMEA and APAC to help drive sales by providing «actionable intelligence and insights on the future of the investment and wealth management industry». In particular, he will focus on industry trends through thought leadership as part of the Franklin Templeton Institute.

Crossley was most recently working at Citi where he was a managing director and spent 17 years in various roles across business advisory services, global macro strategy and European rates strategy. Previously, he also worked in proprietary trading, fixed income portfolio management, risk management and corporate treasury.

According to comments by Crossley, some of the areas of interest from the non-traditional business include alternatives as well as digital assets.

«It is exciting to join an outstanding team at Franklin Templeton as it grows its alternative offerings and continues to innovate and expand its digital asset capabilities alongside its traditional businesses. I look forward to contributing to the next chapter of the firm’s long history,» he said.

California-based Franklin Templeton currently has offices in 30 countries with around 1,300 investment professionals serving clients in over 155 countries. As of 2022 December 31, it had approximately $1.4 trillion in assets under management.
