HSBC named a company veteran as its new chief executive officer for Malaysia. He spent almost four decades at the U.K.-based company.
Stuart Milne will take up the CEO role in Malaysia with immediate effect, HSBC said in a statement on Friday. He will be based in Kuala Lumpur and report to HSBC’s deputy chairman and chief executive Peter Wong.
Milne joined HSBC in 1981 and has worked in a number of business units for the bank. Starting in 2012, he was chief executive officer for India after a spell working in the same position for the bank in Japan.
Milne replaces CEO Mukhtar Hussain who, after eight years in his current role, is taking on a new assignment as HSBC’s Asia Pacific head of the belt and road initiative.
