Aviva Investors has moved to strengthen its institutional offering in Asia. The asset manager is eyeing a bigger slice of sovereign wealth fund assets.

Aviva Investors, the global asset management business of U.K.-based Aviva, appointed Tom Clapham as head of institutional sales, Asia, according to a statement released on Wednesday.

Clapham joins from AXA investment managers in Hong Kong where he was head of sovereign wealth funds and central banks, institutional sales. Prior to that he held senior roles at Macquarie Bank, Deutsche Bank and Mercer.

Based in Singapore, Clapham will report to Scott Callander, head of client solutions, Asia Pacific and Middle East, Aviva Investors.
