Asset Manager Franklin Templeton made two appointments that will better position the firm to deliver new equity strategies in China and Asia.
Franklin Templeton Investments appointed Jason Zhu Guoqing (pictured above) as director of portfolio management for China, and Yu-Jen Shih (pictured below) as portfolio manager and deputy director of Research for the firm's emerging markets team. According to a media release on Wednesday, Zhu will be based in Shanghai, and Shih in Singapore.
Shih brings over two decades of global and Asia investment experience and will be a portfolio manager with a focus on Asia. Additionally, as deputy director of research, he will support the consistency and robustness of the team’s research process and the ongoing development of timely, high quality investment ideas by its analyst team. He joins from Fullerton Fund Management in Singapore where he was responsible for various equity funds and was the lead manager of several Asia-focused equity funds. He is a native Mandarin speaker.
A Chinese national and native Mandarin speaker with over 20 years of Chinese equity investment experience, Zhu will assume research and portfolio management responsibilities for China A-shares. He joins from Fullerton Fund Management where he was Director of Investment and Head of China Equity, leading its equity team in Shanghai.
Both will report to Sukumar Rajah, director of Portfolio Management for Franklin Templeton emerging markets equity’s investment team, with Shih also working closely with Tek Khoan Ong, Director of the teams research.
