Bank Julius Baer has announced the creation of two dedicated sub-regions for the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, and the appointment of the new leadership for them.
Julius Baer has appointed Régis Burger as Head Middle East and Alain Ucari as Head Africa & Turkey, the Swiss private bank announced in a press release on Friday.
According to the bank, the two dedicated sub-regions were created «in order to better serve clients and develop the respective relationships in these diverse markets in a more targeted fashion.» Regis will be based in Dubai, while Burger will be based in Zurich and Monaco. They will report to Rémy A. Bersier, Head Emerging Markets.
Burger has a 20-year career in private banking that began at Credit Suisse in 1998. He joined Julius Baer in 2006. He became Head of Business Management for the Region Emerging Markets in 2012, and has acted as Chief Executive Officer of Julius Baer (Middle East) in Dubai since 2016.

Ucari (pictured above) began his career in private banking in 1994, and was previously CEO of Credit Suisse Monaco for 12 years. He joined Julius Baer as CEO of Julius Baer in Monaco in 2015, and was most recently Chairman of Bank Julius Baer (Monaco).
