Swiss- and Singapore-based Crypto firm Sygnum, which is vying for a banking license, is enlisting the help of UBS' former boss.

Until now, Peter Wuffli has merely advised the aspiring crypto bank, as well as invested money. Now, Wuffli is being elected to Sygnum's board, the company that has also an office in Singapore, said on Friday.

«His experience and knowledge will play an important role in successfully driving our next phase of development and will be instrumental in further reinforcing our efforts to build a trusted digital assets ecosystem,» Syngum Chairman and co-founder Luka Mueller said.

Wuffli, who has quietly returned to finance at Swiss fund house Partners Group after leaving UBS one year before its 2008 bailout, said he strongly believes in blockchain technology. Before UBS, he was a McKinsey consultant. Wuffli's son, Beat Wuffli, is Sygnum's head of tokenization.
