He joins Startup-O as its managing director of projects.

Long-serving Barclays executive Sudeep Sarma has left the investment bank to join a Singapore-based platform that connects technology startups with seed funding.

«In these challenging times, their digital approach to business, whether in assessing and growing start-ups or onboarding new employees(!), has allowed them to maintain momentum,» Sarma said on LinkedIn, announcing the move. In his new role, Sarma will work closely with co-founders Anuj Jain and Nitin Nath.

Experienced Manager

According to his LinkedIn profile, Sarma spent 15 years at the British investment bank, most recently as the head of Asia research, based in Singapore.

He was also its London-based global COO for research. He was previously a strategy consultant at Boston Consulting Group and has experience across infrastructure functions at insurance group Aviva.

Helping Startups Grow

Founded in 2017, Startup-O bills itself as «South East Asia's largest platform for startup assessments, investments, and venture building,» with «‘Entrepreneurs for Entrepreneurs’ approach at the core of its design.»

According to the company, it has over 1,500 startups from more than 40 countries in its community, and an ecosystem of partners with more than 20 institutions from 15 countries.
