He joined earlier this month from software provider VMware, where he spent a year as director for security modernization.

Standard Chartered has hired Jerome Walter as chief information security officer (CISO) for its digital ventures arm, according to «eFinancialCareers,» which reported the move on Thursday.

The Singapore-based cyber security specialist brings with him more than 20 years of experience in the information security space, working in development, IT operations, security, and risk management roles, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Walter has also held senior security roles in Pivotal, Prudential and Natixis where he built and developed security strategies, architectures, and practices in the region as its chief security officer for APAC.

Growing Team

A large number of Standard Chartered's cyber security staff are based in Singapore, where there are 12 local vacancies in the function, including three in Walter’s team, according to «eFinancialCareers

Last month, the bank hired Lavy Shtokhamer, who previously led Israel’s Cyber Emergency Response Team, to head its cyber defense centre in Singapore.
