Credit Suisse named a new head of coverage in Malaysia for its investment banking and capital markets unit.
Based in Kuala Lumpur, Mia Idora Ismail will focus on growing Credit Suisse’s investment banking and capital markets business in Malaysia. She will report to Pankaj Goel and Rizal Gozali, Credit Suisse’s co-heads of the unit for Southeast Asia.
Ismail joins the bank following seven years at Maybank Kim Eng, where she was co-head of Malaysia mergers and acquisitions. Prior to that, she worked in corporate investment banking at RHB Invest in Kuala Lumpur.
One-Bank Model
Credit Suisse operates as an integrated firm of private banking and investment banking. The bank can effectively play advisor on deals, as well as financially underwrite them. In Asia, where the majority of businesses are family-run, the model has gone down well.
The Zurich-based bank reported this week that it had added 11 analysts in recent months to its Chinese unit.
