DBS Bank search for a new chief risk officer led an internal veteran with over 25 years of experience. He replaces Elbert Pattijn, who is retiring from the bank.
Teck Long Tan (pictured above) will join the DBS Group Executive Committee and report to the bank's chief executive, according to a bank's statement. His last title was Head of Institutional Banking Group looking after large and mid-sized business customers at DBS.
«Tan's appointment is a testament to our ability to groom leaders from within,» said DBS chief executive Piyush Gupta.
Business and Risk Experience
Tan, who started at DBS corporate banking department in 1993, rose through the ranks of the banks over two decades. He has held senior roles in DBS' real estate banking franchise, institutional banking business, and led a loan workout unit which restructures underperforming cases.
His predecessor, Elbert Pattijn, held the position of chief risk officer since 2008, navigating the bank through the global financial crisis. In recent years, he improved risk models and digitized large parts of its risk management process, as part of the bank's push for digitisation.
