Additiv is naming a new head in Asia to spur growth in the region. The fintech's new hire is a veteran of Credit Suisse.
The Swiss-based fintech firm said Bert-Jan van Essen will be its managing director in Asia from April, in a statement on Friday. Van Essen, based in Singapore, replaces Thomas Achhorner (pictured below), who will instead develop strategic markets.
Van Essen was most recently technology chief at Privé Technologies as well as co-founder of Dragon Wealth. From 2002 until 2011, he was with Credit Suisse, including as tech chief for the Swiss bank's wealth arm in Asia. He will lead a team of sales, product and delivery managers in Singapore and Vietnam to continue Additiv’s growth drive in the region where it has tripled its staff in the past 12 months.
The move comes after Additiv, backed by investor Martin Ebner, poached Citigroup banker Adrian Weiss (pictured above) for its Asian business. Weiss is now Additiv's operating chief, according to the start-up's website.
