UBS is naming a banker who recently returned from a stint in Asia to spearhead its business with multinational corporate clients and strategic transactions.

Roger Bieri returned to Zurich from Singapore six months ago and just racked up a promotion: The Swiss bank is naming him head of multinationals and strategic transactions within UBS' corporate and institutional clients, effective October 1. He will deputize for Andy Kollegger, head of the UBS division's products and services.

A 24-year veteran of the bank, Bieri replaces Simone Westerfeld, who was promoted within UBS' Swiss business, as finews.com recently reported. Previously, he was head of corporate clients in Asia for six years and a member of UBS' top management in the region. He returned to Switzerland in March as head of corporate and institutional clients in international services.
