The asset management firm has expanded its local investment team in Australia, in line with plans to grow its client focus.
T. Rowe Price has hired Sam Ruiz, who joins its Investment Specialist Group as its first Sydney-based portfolio specialist, the Baltimore-based firm said in a press release on Wednesday.
Ruiz joins from Macquarie Asset Management, where he held a number of senior investment roles in almost 10 years at the firm. He was most recently head of Investment Strategy and Solutions, responsible for managing its Asian equities unit and delivering market and portfolio insights to the global client base.
With his local insight and technical know-how of equities markets and funds, Ruiz will work alongside the firm’s Australian equities and global investment teams to support the firm's growing base of retail and institutional clients, the statement said. He reports to London-based Helen Ford, regional head of Investment Specialist Group, EMEA & APAC.
Growing Asia Pacific Business
T. Rowe Price has been recently expanding its business in Asia Pacific. Earlier this month, the firm announced the appointment of Ashlesha Vaishampayan as consultant relations manager for Asia. Prior to her appointment, the firm added Cassandra Crowe in October 2019 as head of consultant relations for Australia and New Zealand.
T. Rowe Price has also been active in building a multi-asset team in Japan to cater to the increasing demand from local investors for new solutions and diversification needs.
