Veteran UBS banker Roger Bieri has been appointed to an advisory position outside his day-to-day job. A position that is key for his employer’s global growth plans in China.
The Swiss Chinese Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) has appointed Roger Bieri to its advisory board, according to a statement released on Tuesday. He replaces Andreas Kollegger, to whom Bieri reports at UBS. He took up the new advisory role in May.
Bieri is the head of corporate and institutional clients – multinationals and strategic transactions at UBS Switzerland in Zurich. He has the most challenging corporate clients under his wings.
The Chamber's 40th Birthday
Before, he had been stationed in Singapore for six years as head of corporate clients in Asia-Pacific. He also served on the executive committee for that region. Earlier, Bieri worked in different positions in New York and Zurich.
The SCCC has assumed a key role given the corona-crisis and the geopolitical developments. The chamber of commerce in 2020 is celebrating its 40th birthday, proof for how long the two countries have had business ties.
