She will lead the team’s work on results frameworks, measurement, monitoring, and sustainable finance taxonomies for ESG transactions.

Deutsche Bank has appointed Kalpana Seethepalli as its Asia Pacific director of ESG –a newly created role – to serve the growing interest in sustainable investing in the region, the firm announced in a statement on Tuesday.

Seethepalli joins from impact investment fund Infra-Tech Capital, where she was managing director, sustainability and impact. She previously spent 17 years as part of the World Bank Group, where she focused on sustainable development and investment policy, blended finance, and public-private partnerships.

Her appointment follows the arrival of Kamran Kahn as head of ESG for Asia Pacific in May.

Increasing Demand

«It is abundantly clear that in Asia Pacific ESG impact is becoming increasingly central to business and investment decisions, and rightly so,» Alexander von zur Muehlen, Deutsche Bank Asia Pacific CEO, said in the announcement.

«Client demand for proven ESG expertise from their banking partners is rapidly rising. At Deutsche Bank we are intensely focused on building out our ESG competence and embedding it throughout all of our businesses and service offerings as a key element of our growth strategy for the region,» he added.
