The investment manager has announced a pair of appointments in Asia Pacific ex-Japan, effective 8 March 2021.
In Hong Kong, BNY Mellon Investment Management has appointed Dominic Wong as head of intermediary, Greater China – a newly created role in which he will be responsible for developing and driving its intermediary strategy, by deepening client relationships and growing assets under management in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Taiwan.
Wong, a seasoned investment professional, spent 15 years at Fidelity Investment Management, with his most recent role being head of intermediary, North Asia. He was previously head of retail sales, Hong Kong, at BlackRock, and worked in distribution and client relationship roles for New Alliance Asset Management, Asia and HSBC Asset Management, Hong Kong.
Expanded Taiwan Team
In Taiwan, the firm has appointed Sabrina Yu as business development, senior associate, where she will focus on building BNY Mellon's brand and relationships with Taiwan institutions. She will work closely with Rebecca Chu, the firm's head of Taiwan, who was appointed in September 2020.
Yu joins from Aberdeen Standard Investments in Taiwan, where she was most recently associate director of institutional sales, responsible for building relationships and growing assets among Taiwan insurance companies, fund of fund managers and pension funds.
Asia Growth
Doni Shamsuddin, head of Asia Pacific ex-Japan at BNY Mellon Investment Management, said the hires are a key part of the firm's plan to accelerate its growth.
BNY Mellon Investment Management has more than $2.2 trillion in assets under management as of December 31, 2020. The firm has six other offices in Asia Pacific including Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, Sydney, Tokyo and Seoul.
