Chicago-headquartered Northern Trust has appointed a new head of business for Australia and New Zealand.
Northern Trust named Leon Stavrou to the role, according to a statement, succeeding Angelo Calvitto who was named head of APAC in June this year.
Effective October 1, Stavrou is responsible for overseeing the overall strategic direction of the business and reports to Calvitto.
Stavrou has 20 years of asset servicing experience including the last 11 years with Northern Trust. Prior to joining the firm, he had also worked for National Australia Bank Asset Servicing where he held several managerial roles.

In Australia and New Zealand, Northern Trust has a comprehensive suite of solutions across asset servicing, asset management and capital markets.
The firm has over 200 staff in its Sydney and Melbourne offices and is the second largest custodian in Australia by total assets under custody, according to Australian Custodial Services Association data as of June 2021.
