EFG International announces the appointment of Andre Portelli as the new head of investment solutions, effective February 1. He also joins the executive and global business committees.
Andre Portelli joins EFG International as Head of Investment Solutions responsible for EFG’s global investment activities, including all discretionary and advisory mandates, research, and the full range of investment funds managed by EFG Asset Management, starting February 1, according to a statement Monday.
He reports directly to CEO Giorgio Pradelli, and becomes a member of the executive committee and the global business committee, subject to regulatory approval.
Portelli is a Maltese citizen and brings more than 20 years of experience in private banking and investment banking. He has been global co-head of investments as well as global head of strategic solutions group and private markets at Barclays Private Bank since 2017. From 2010 to 2017, he held various senior roles at UBS, including head of private solutions, EMEA, and UBS Investment Bank. Before that, he worked for Nomura and Lehman Brothers in the UK, the UAE and Switzerland.

Moz Afzal and Oliver Heinzelmann are serving as interim Co-Heads of Investment Solutions since February 2023 in addition to their responsibilities as chief investment officer & CEO of EFG Asset Management (EFGAM) and head of strategy & business development investment solutions, respectively.
Effective February 1, Afzal will focus fully on his core role as CIO & CEO EFGAM and become a member of the global business committee of EFG International. On the same day, Heinzelmann assumes the role of investment solutions chief operating officer, with both reporting to Portelli.
