Franklin Templeton Investments appointed a new head of wholesale for Southeast Asia. The move follows the promotion of a long-standing Asian executive at the American asset manager.
Terence Bong will lead the firm’s retail sales and private banking efforts for the Southeast Asian region with immediate effect and will also be responsible for business development and marketing of investment products and strategies. He will be based in Singapore.
Prior to taking on the new role, Bong was head of intermediary business development for Asia at Nikko Asset Management, Franklin Templeton said in a press release.
Asia-Pacific Changes
Before that, he spent 10 years at Schroders, where his last position was head of private banks distribution for Singapore and Hong Kong.
Bong reports to Dora Seow (pictured), who has taken on a new role as head of distribution, institutional and wholesale business for Southeast Asia. Seow joined Franklin Templeton Investments in 2001 and was previously head of the firm's institutional business in Southeast Asia.
The global investment firm made changes to both its Australian and Malaysian leadership towards the end of 2017. Avinash Satwalekar took up the post in Kuala Lumpur, while in Sydney Matthew Harrison will become managing director of Franklin Templeton Investments Australia, effective January 15.
