Asia doesn’t fare too well in Deutsche Bank’s latest annual survey of global prices and living standards. At least, it's a good starting point for debate.
If quality of life is your main concern then head down under as Wellington in New Zealand is the best place to live in, according to a recent Deutsche Bank survey. Asian cities do not feature with Zurich, Copenhagen, Edinburgh and Vienna making up the top 5.
At the other end of the scale, in the seventh edition of the annual survey of global prices and living standards, it may come as no surprise that quality of life is perceived to be much tougher in China.
Surely You Keep Fit in Singapore
The major Asian financial centers didn't fare that well either. Japan leads the pack although not in the top ten coming in at number 13 on the survey. Wealth hubs Singapore and Hong Kong though must be all work and no play trailing in at 25 and 39 on the list.
One side effect for those living in Singapore however is that you’re likely to be healthier than your international counterparts. It’s so expensive to buy a car in the city-state that surely you keep fit. Or maybe not as the Lion City is also the fourth most expensive for a gym membership in the business district.
Cheapest Internet in the World
Hong Kong finance professionals meanwhile are likely to be holed up in their apartments where the monthly rent for a mid-range 2 bedroom apartment comes out as the most expensive on the planet.
And while it may be just coincidence with all the allegations swirling around Russian interference in global elections via social media, Moscow it turns out, has the cheapest internet in the world.
