He will lead the regional expansion of the firm's business that supports clients transacting in the e-commerce space.

The firm has appointed Philip Glickman to oversee its Merchant Services strategy, product development and delivery, it announced on Wednesday.

Based in Singapore, Glickman reports to Sridhar Kanthadai, head of Wholesale Payments for Asia Pacific and Molly Walsh, head of global product for Merchant Services.

The senior executive brings more than two decades of experience in global payments and acquiring, and joins from Mastercard, where he was most recently its Asia Pacific head of commercial B2B payments. Before that, he spent 18 years at Citibank in New York and Hong Kong, where he was the head of Wholesale Cards and Payments for the region.

«Asia Pacific remains a region with huge growth opportunities for our clients and we are seeing a rising number of e-commerce market places and B2B2C businesses being established,» Kanthadai said in the announcement.

«We have seen a rapid acceleration towards digitalization in the payments space and we are focused on providing a full suite of solutions for our clients whether they are e-commerce companies or traditional firms moving their businesses online,» he added.

Merchant Services is part of the bank’s Wholesale Payments business that combines treasury services, trade, commercial card, and merchant services capabilities. The bank has direct membership with over 50 clearing systems and serves nearly 1,000 regionally headquartered clients across 14 markets in Asia Pacific.
