The private banking arm of Standard Chartered is running a forum in Hong Kong dedicated to the gathering of ultra-rich families. Notable attendees include a member of the Rockefeller family and the president of the Boston Red Sox.
Standard Chartered Global Private Bank is hosting its inaugural «Global Family Network Forum» in Hong Kong, according to a statement. The two-day forum included a closed-door client event yesterday (October 15) entitled «Connecting families, celebrating life’s work» followed by a full-day conference today.
Hong Kong was chosen as the first stop for the bank’s forum as one of the four wealth hubs from which it serves ultra-high net worth individuals and families. The other three hubs are Singapore, Dubai and London.
Notable Attendees
The forum in Hong Kong saw around 200 international clients and guests from Greater China, Southeast Asia, the United Arab Emirates, the UK and the US. This included 80 UHNW families, of which 50 flew in from abroad.
Guests who spoke at the event included Olivier Krug, director of the house, Krug Champagne; Noni Purnomo, president director and CEO, Blue Bird Group; Justin Rockefeller, chairman and co-founder of The ImPact; Sam Kennedy, CEO of Fenway Sports Group and president of the Boston Red Sox; David Bijlsma, chief commercial officer of GASSAN; Winnie Chiu, president and executive director, Dorsett Hospitality International; and Krishna Chokhani, director, Chokhani Group and Family Office.
«As a connector bank, we are one of the few international banks with an affluent continuum to support our clients’ wealth needs and grow with them as they accumulate and grow their wealth,» said Standard Chartered group CEO Bill Winters. «We are committed to investing in our affluent and UHNW capabilities, in particular those catering to the holistic needs of UHNW clients and families.»
